Master of Science in Business

The first year of study focuses on central subjects such as business and economic analysis, strategy, ethics and leadership, as well as methods. Teaching occurs in lectures and group work with both lesser and larger home assignments.

In the spring semester, students choose a major and minor. The major is comprised of one course in the spring semester and two courses in the autumn semester of the fifth year of study. The minor is comprised of one course in each of the same semesters.

The second year of study is comprised of courses within the major and minor areas of study. In the last semester, students work on their Master thesis.

Major and minor offers will vary from year to year in accordance with student interest and faculty resources. The language of instruction is Norwegian in the first three years of study, while the final two are primarily taught in English.

Study progression requirement:

The student must have completed a minimum of 45 credits in the first year to be allowed to attend courses in the 3rd semester. To start writing the master's thesis, the student must have successfully completed the Research Methods course and completed the major.

Application deadline Local admission for non European citizens is February 1st of the respective year. Local admission for European citizens is April 1st of the respective year. We strongly encourage early applications from students who need a residence permit to study in Norway.

Formal prerequisites Bachelor's degree or equivalent three/four years of financial and administrative studies. The following requirements for the combination of subjects applies:

A total of 90 credits comprising:

a minimum of 30 credits of business: management accounting, financial accounting, finance and investment
a minimum of 25 credits administration subjects: organization, marketing, strategy and management
a minimum of 15-20 credits economics: microeconomics, macroeconomics, public finance
a minimum of 15-20 credits methodology: mathematics, statistics, scientific method
Admission requires a good result (laudabilis), ie an average grade of minimum C in the admission basis. For international students minimum 2nd Class, Upper Division/B or equivivalent is required.
