HVL Student interview - Aeneas Jerron is happy in Norway

“If you are a nature lover this might be the best place for you”

Name: Aeneas Jerron

Country: Sri Lanka

Institution: Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL)

Education: Research student in Computational Physics

Aeneas Jerron’s dream became a reality

Aeneas Jerron had dreamt about coming to Norway since he was 10 years old, after his teacher told him about the “land of midnight sun”. He finally got the opportunity to see it for himself.

Aeneas Jerron had completed an undergraduate degree at his home university in Sri Lanka. A collaboration project between his home university and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) opened the door for Aeneas for an exchange  to Norway. Here he is conducting a research stay related to his field of study; Computational Physics.

Adopting to life in Norway

When Aeneas Jerron first arrived, he had to ask for help to get around as many of the instructions and signs were in Norwegian. “I used Google translation quite a lot too”, Aeneas Jerron says. After a while it became easier to navigate around the institute and the city.

Aeneas Jerron was happy to see that snow welcomed him in Bergen. Although he had to get used to the cold, he was excited to see snow in real life for the first time.

“If you are a nature lover this might be the best place for you to explore more. You can experience all the seasons here, but it will take a bit of time to understand the cultural difference and make friends”, Aeneas Jerron adds.

Great study environment

The facilities for studies and research have been great, and Aeneas Jerron has enjoyed his life in Bergen. A well-organised transport system and nice supermarkets have made his stay comfortable.  “There are a lot of offers for students in many ways like Wi-Fi for students, discount in travel pass, discount in bars, gyms and more”.
