Moving from Bangalore to Norway was a big step, but studying at UiO has been 100% worth it. 

If you have wondered about how it is to study at the best university of a country while enjoying real independence, and a life beyond just textbooks, I feel that UiO is the place. 

Part-time jobs helps economically and socially

Oslo can be slightly expensive; there is no sugarcoating that. But here’s the catch: student jobs pay really well. You can earn a solid hourly wage working part-time, which makes a big difference. It does not matter what type of job it is, all of them they pay quite well. 

A lot of students work alongside studies and manage quite comfortably. Plus, you make new friends at your workplace. 

Some of my best connections are people whom I met at my parttime job. So, it’s not just about spending rather it’s about earning, learning, and becoming independent and self-sufficient.

There is no scary hierarchy

Being a student at the University of Oslo is super refreshing. Classes are smaller, so you’re not just another face in the crowd. All my professors know me by my name. 

And the best part is that there is no scary hierarchy. You can literally email or walk up to a professor, call them by their first name, and have a real conversation. It feels more like collaboration than “teaching”. 

I am someone who likes asking questions, sharing ideas, and even challenging things and that’s why this is the place for me.
