Master in Biology and Sustainability – turn your biology degree into impact

Want to use your biology background to help solve global challenges?

NTNU’s Master in Biology and Sustainability gives you the tools to understand life’s processes and apply them to issues like climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainable resource management.

The programme combines theory, lab work, field studies, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

You choose one of three specializations:

  • Biosciences: Focus on Cell and Molecular Biology, Physiology, or Ecology, Behavior and Evolution.
  • Biodiversity and Nature Management: Integrates biology with economic and social perspectives for sustainable resource use.
  • Biodiversity and Systematics: Develop taxonomic skills and join NABiS—a Nordic collaboration between seven major universities.

You will learn to:

  • Understand biological processes from molecules to ecosystems
  • Apply advanced theory and quantitative methods
  • Conduct independent scientific research
  • Communicate science effectively
  • Contribute to sustainable solutions
