Energy, Reservoir and Earth Sciences - Master of Science Degree Programme

Do you want to lead in the future energy transition?

The energy sector requires professionals who understand the intricacies and importance of transitioning to a sustainable energy mix. A combined education in geosciences and reservoir engineering will prepare you to be a critical part of the future low-carbon world.

The energy sector is changing rapidly with increased focus on energy mix scenarios, renewable energy, and decarbonization of the environment. With the use of digital leading-edge technology, improving engineering efficiency is becoming a major focus for the field. The subsurface, whose main use has been for fossil fuel extraction, is fast becoming the main target for CO2 and hydrogen storage and geothermal energy. By using the subsurface for alternative storage purposes, a low-carbon society can be reached by the end of the century.

This program will prepare you for a career in subsurface production and storage of energy (e.g. gas, geothermal) and waste (e.g. CO2). You will apply leading-edge technology to real-world scenarios in a fast-paced and international environment. This MSc program, full-time over two-years, will cover in-depth topics from geology, fluid flow in porous media, CO2 disposal, increased oil recovery, energy transitions, and decision-making.
