Master of Business - Major in Strategy

The Strategy major provides an analytical programme if you want to pursue a career in management or consulting. You will learn how to frame and quantify businesses, business environments, and strategic initiatives, and assess financial implications. You will also gain insight into the skills required to manage the dynamics of strategy processes, such as implementation. The major relates rigorous analyses of competition and value creation to sustainability, innovation and technological change. Your ability to address key strategic decisions and strategically manage organisations is developed from a local to a global perspective.

You will learn to:

  • identify strategic challenges for businesses and break these down into manageable topics, issues, or factors for analysis
  • model and analyse industries, businesses and value creation
  • collect, structure and code data for the application of analytics
  • develop strategies for obtaining and retaining competitiveness
  • design and manage a strategy development process
  • identify obstacles to innovation and suggest ways to overcome them
  • identify business challenges associated with operating across borders and devise strategies to address these
  • communicate strategic problems, analyses, and solutions clearly to stakeholders
