This master's supplement is a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge about some of our time’s greatest challenges to health and how to address them. You will also develop the skills needed to transfer this knowledge to health professionals in different educational settings.

This Honours certificate offers you a unique opportunity to develop interdisciplinary competence in sustainable healthcare and understand and handle the occurring changes in health due to climate changes.

Obtain key competencies in sustainability and the challenges of ensuring sustainable healthcare

The Honors certificate will focus on, among other topics:

  • the impact of climate change on human and environmental health.
  • the relation between human, animal, and environmental health.
  • how the term 'sustainable healthcare' is to be understood in an environmental, social and economic setting.

Through collaborative lectures with leading research environments, seminars which focuses on experimental methods and pedagogy and through case based group work, you will learn to better understand and address challenges to health posed by climate change, and issues of sustainability.

This master's supplement focuses strongly on student participation, preferably in groups of students from different scientific domains, and with seminars where the teacher's role will be to stimulate to systems thinking and cross-disciplinary collaboration when feasible.

For students at profession- or master level

The certificate is aimed at students with a strong personal interest in learning more about the intersection between climate, health and sustainability, as well as the pedagogical tools which can be used to developing creative responses to this.

The healthcare sector emits large amounts of greenhouse gases (GHG), and sustainability must be implemented in healthcare institutions as well as in all other sectors of the society. This implies that health professionals must learn to consider future and global consequences of their decisions and learn how to transfer that knowledge to others.
