Mathematical Sciences - Master's Programme

All modern technology is based on mathematical sciences. Mathematics is the foundation of everything in our surroundings. We need mathematicians to solve climatic challenges, the problem of cancer, or energy crises. A solid fundament in mathematical sciences will enable you to hypothesize, design experiments, analyze data, recognize patterns, prove connections, and solve problems. Since mathematics is the language of science, this is the path to understanding the world. You will learn to understand, use, and develop mathematics to see new solutions for a more functional and developing society. A solid fundament in mathematical sciences will enable you to hypothesize, design experiments, analyze data, recognize patterns, prove connections, and solve problems. You will learn how to structure, examine, and analyse information to find solution strategies and rational solutions. These are very valuable qualifications for working life, whether you will be working on the climate, energy, finance, art, research, in teaching, or technology. NTNU has a world-class environment in mathematical sciences that you may become part of. In this programme, you will have the opportunity to specialise in algebra, analysis, topology, statistics, or applied mathematics. This is an international master’s degree programme taught in English. After a master’s degree, you can pursue a PhD programme.
