Physical Activity and Health - Master's Programme

This international master's program provides you with a comprehensive understanding of physical activity and exercise, and their role in enhancing health, physical function, and performance in diverse individuals. It teaches the scientific principles that govern physical activity and physical function, and how to enhance these in various contexts. Specifically, you will learn how to optimize health, performance, and function through strength and endurance training, and how this influences physiological functioning and movement techniques. You will also learn how to tailor training for different groups, such as athletes, patients, seniors, and children. Practical experience in conducting movement analyses and physiological tests in our laboratories at NTNU and St Olav's Hospital, as well as in the field using portable technology, is also part of the program.

You can choose between two specializations: Exercise Physiology or Movement Science. Both specializations equip you with expertise in physical activity and health relevant to medicine, physiotherapy, health, sports, rehabilitation, and sports medicine. The Exercise Physiology specialization focuses on exercise and its physiology while Movement Science emphasizes physical function and movement techniques.
