Sustainable Food Systems

Do you want to help find solutions to the future challenges of providing enough food for the world's growing population facing our common food system? Do you want to understand how food systems are structured and get an overview of the system in Norway, the Nordic countries and globally? A master's degree in sustainable food systems will give you systemic knowledge of food systems and experience working in interdisciplinary teams to propose solutions that can change food systems.

One of the biggest challenges we face in the future is to ensure that the world's population has nutritious and safe food that everyone has access to, while at the same time reducing the burden on the climate and the environment. In addition, we must ensure that there is balance in the food systems, so that we also safeguard social and economic sustainability. This requires us to use our resources in a way that ensures that future generations also have at least equal, or even better, opportunities to ensure food security. Knowledge of food systems and the complex interactions within and between chains, levels and dimensions is essential for managing resources as best as possible.
